How kitbashing GI JOE Classified figures can make you extra MONEY
Kitbashing seems to be a buzz word going around in the GI JOE Classified community lately. It is a technique where parts from different figures are combined to create a unique new figure.
I recently uploaded a video on YouTube that explain and demonstrate this process. It’s really easy to do. Best of all, it’s a lot of fun. You get to create a unique custom GI JOE Classified figure that is not available anywhere else.
In that video, I created a custom U.S. NAVY Special Force Covert Ops Shipwreck figure. The torso, arms, legs and boots are from Cobra Island Firefly figure #21. The neck and head are from Shipwreck #70.
To complete the look, I equipped him with a custom 3D printed tactical harness, beanie and rifle. All are custom made by yours truly, Mini Arms Depot.
Do you know what happens when you have a unique custom piece that very few people have? Not only do you get bragging rights, but you can also sell them for decent money.
As of this writing, I’m still debating whether I should put my custom Covert Ops Shipwreck for sale. One thing I do know however, is that I can’t ignore the solicitations received since I posted that video. All either made me an upfront offer or asked how much I’d be willing to accept if I was to sell.
Nothing that will have me driving around in a BMW, but decent money for something that took 2 hours to do on my spare time.
If you have a 3D Printer and an eye for which parts go well together, you’ll be well on your way to making some cash.
And guess what? People and other collectors alike are “willing” to pay for custom pieces. This is especially true if you make ones that no one else have, or very few people have. You too can make some extra cash on your spare time, doing what you already enjoy doing.
